In the soft glow of the hay field, she danced and twirled in the sunset. The field was swollen with the ripening hay - it rippled and churned like a sea of green and gold, ready for harvest.

Hello Dear Friends!
Happy Monday! I’ve lost count of how many days of non-stop rain there’s been here in South Carolina…four, five? Golden, sixty-degree afternoons spiraled within twelve hours to thirty-seven degrees with torrential downpours. The fog has lingered for days, threading through the pines, skirting the pasture fences, and chilling the skin with its cold caress. Immersed in a novel version of winter mists and rain, I’ve been reminded of the magic of a snowy afternoon. I’ve heard that there’s been an abundance of snow back home in Michigan. While I don’t miss cracking frozen water buckets or navigating icy backroads, I miss the enchanted moment of waking up to see a barren landscape transformed into a dazzling wonderland. There’s nothing quite like the peace of watching snowflakes drift down from a quiet grey sky to slowly, steadily, millimeter by millimeter blanket the world in a flawless garment of white. Happy summer! Last week marked the first official week of that sweet season of sunshine and long days, where the sun wakes early and glows late, melting into the night as the flourishing earth soaks up every last glimmer. Morning hikes, afternoons in the garden, bright hours at work, cooling off in the pool, riding through the hayfields, sunset gazing over the lake, there is something about the warmth and golden glow of summer that promises hope. Hope for strength today and change tomorrow and peace in eternity. While I don’t want to lose myself in the bliss of summer and live blind to the turmoil that surrounds me, the glow of endless summer days reminds me of the goodness of my Savior to bring light into the darkness.
Hi Friends!
I’ve been a bit silent on the blog lately, but spending lots of time at the barn, in the garden, and in the woods, soaking up this beautiful spring weather. Though it's nearly impossible to choose, May might be my favorite month of the year. Misty mornings, the magical fragrance of blossoms drifting on the breeze, golden afternoons, the trill of birds, rosy sunsets...the whole world seems to burst with new life. By the second and third weeks of May, snowy blossoms emerged from pink-tinted buds on the apple trees around our backyard meadow and in the old apple orchard. The blooms lasted for a few brief but spectacular days, transforming the quiet meadow into an ethereal wonderland, perfect for a springtime pony pal photoshoot...and thankfully Esther and Harry were willing to help me... Hi Friends!
For me, the silver lining to the struggles of quarantine has definitely been all the time spent outside. Whether I’m hiking beside the brook, running through the dunes, or cantering through the trees, the beauty of God’s creation never ceases to amaze me. I’ve been taking lots nature/still life photos (sunrise is my favorite time to take pictures - the golden light is perfect) as well as a few self portrait sessions, but my little sis was willing to help me out with a few shoots, so I’d thought I’d share some highlights of one of those today. Hello Dear Friends! I hope and pray that you all had a blessed, joy-filled Christmas season. I’ve been rather quiet these past few weeks, working hard to finish classes and then enjoying the start of break, with later nights, catching up with friends, slower mornings, afternoon rides, and of course - celebrating the beautiful Gift of Jesus this Christmas.
Hi Friends! Thanks for stopping by today. It's been a blustery, wet, moody few weeks, wouldn't you say? I miss the bright sunshine and the crisp breezes of early fall; November and its dreary rain and wild winds seems to have slipped in while October ebbs into the shadowy twilight. But each season has its beauty and its pride, so in honor of the end of this October, I thought I'd share a collection of my favorite still shots from the past month (saving animal/portrait shoots for another post!), paired with my favorite October quotes.
Hey there and welcome back to my blog! Thanks for stopping by today. :)
I don’t even want to think about the fact that school starts in less than two weeks, so on a more cheerful note, I decided to share some photos from one of my favorite spring photoshoots with Esther (of course). ;) Afternoon ya’ll! This hot, hot, hot July weather is certainly making me miss the cool, mountain weather of Tennessee in early June. My heart longs for hazy azure hills smeared across a cotton-piled sky while fresh breezes threaded like gaily skipping children down mountain trails golden with the slanting afternoon sun. Memories and laughter, light and gay like the tumbling of a forest stream, wander back across these summer days.
A few weeks back, on a beautiful May morning, I had the privilege of photographing Esther, my adorable little sister! She was a little reluctant at first, but soon she settled right in, and her goofy, joyful, bubbly self made the perfect model, don’t you think?
